Under seat rack on Giro 20

I'm pondering getting an underseat rack for my Giro 20.

But.... how much clearance is there? What's the biggest panniers I can have? Because I don't want to have to buy new ones.

    Zebee,

We only under seat rack we sell these days is the Terracycle Easy Reacher Rack and it will probably handle pretty whatever size pannier you have. The copy below is from the Terracycle web site.

The racks are designed to fit most panniers whose hooks are near the top. Many manufacturers are offering recumbent specific under seat panniers, making the selection even better. If you have any questions about how your panniers will fit, contact us. 1-800-371-5871.

    Hope that helps!

Well I'm not about to ring a US 1800 number

I'll take 'em at their word I guess. If I hold the Arkel Commuter up to the bike and see how much clearance it needs that might tell me something,

I have the underseat 'midships' rack you are talking about. There is very little clearance, so many panniers will not work. I have a pair of Arkel Recumbent panniers that do work well, and are very roomy. Beware that when you pack a lot on the mid-ship panniers it means you must be able to take a very wide stance to get on and off the bike!
I am selling my rack if you're interested.

unless you are in Australia buying your rack probably isn't a goer.

How much clearance is there from the place the rack hooks to the seat and from the place the rack hooks to the ground?

I don't really want to buy new panniers....

I seem to recall someone having pics of arkel panniers on an underseat rack, but can't recall if they were the recumbent specific ones or not.

I'm considering this option too. What did you end up doing?
