Ti Aero gravel bike?

I live on Cape Cod with lots of dirt cartways and hard packed fire roads. For mountain biking I use my Santa Cruz Tallboy. But for adventure rides I was thinking of putting wider tires on. My regular road wheels are Zipp 650 C with 23 tires. But I have a set of stock 660C wheels and wondering if anyone has mounted larger tires and what size?

Check the clearances on the rear wheel. 25mm is probably the biggest you can use. I did use 28mm on my Corsa, but had to grind off some of the rear brake boss.

The biggest tires for 650c are 28mm Terry Tellus, assuming they are still made. 26" wheels, like I use, will let you fit a 35 mm rear tire. I have been able to use a 38 mm on the rear, after wearing it down a few thousand miles on the front wheel, filling the brake boss a bit, and underinflating the tire. I don't know what the fork will fit, assuming you have the original fork (and you might need to change the brake). All in all an Aero is just not a gravel bike. And nor is any rigid high racer, not even a Giro 26 on the biggest softest tires that fit, if you are going to ride even slightly rough gravel at the speeds an upright gravel bike can go at. You really need a full suspension 'bent for off pavement.

Thanks for the responses. I’m rethinking my project. I have a Giro 24 with recurve seat. Lots more clearance for larger tires. It’s in Florida at a friend’s house and since I probably won’t be traveling to Florida any more (COVID)
I might just ship it back and do something with it.
