Return to Ultra Cycling

Today starts my return to ultra cycling.
First task is to recognize that my body is more rational than my mind. It has its own method and timeline of healing. And it doesn't make `poorly negotiated' deals.
So, for the next three weeks my focus will be on physical therapy, rehabilitation and upper body cardio work. After that I'll develop a schedule of cycling activities that will taper `up' towards longer, less `climby' training sessions.
In early February I plan to participate in the Pace Bend Ultra Race ( just outside of Austin, TX. This is an excellent closed loop lap course of seven miles. Great road surface. Very little vehicle traffic. Situated in a State Park. Extremely well organized and supported event. I should be able to deliver a `personal best' in the 24 hour event.
Sometimes adversity makes life just that more challenging and satisfying.
