Replacing Decals

I have recently purchase a previously owned Corsa SS and am restoring it to original condition.  The paint is in reasonably good condition but the decals have been trashed.  The chain has damaged the right side and improper padding during storage or transportation has damaged the left side.  I have purchased the correct replacement decals from Bacchetta but curious about proper removal of the old and application of the new decals.  Also, should a clear coat or other protective film be applied?

If you have performed this restoration, I would welcome suggestions.

I did it on my Ti Aero several years ago and used a little paint thinner. But I didn’t have to worry about a painted frame. Maybe a heat gun would work. I’d send an email to Mark Colliton and see what he suggests.

Thanks. I was able to remove them using a heat gun without too much trouble. They were not clear coated at all. Would applying clear coat or protective film prevent future damage to the decals or just leave them bare? What did you do?

I left them as is. They last a long time.
